It is the visceral aspect of Jozsef's drawings that is most obvious, but these are not straight anatomical studies. Taken from the artist's memories and imagination, they bring to mind works by Blake and Dali, containing half-hidden or suggested figures and gestures that lend the drawings a very human and emotional quality.

Izaskun Gamen uses a mixture of digital and traditional drawing techniques to present us with a view of London as a fluid tangle of overlapping elements. The images touch on the cultural, material, social and individual aspects of life in the city, drawing these together with simple, flowing lines.

These paintings are based on visual and emotional experiences. Graphical, realistic adaptations have evolved gradually to become abstract symbols. Conceived as a series, I worked on more than one picture at a time so that explicit connections between the paintings would remain immediately visible.
