In the paintings exhibited here, I try to show that the border between representational and abstract art is unclear. Some representations of reality, including elements of classical paintings, can be incorporated as mere backgrounds upon which to build an abstract painting.
Equally, abstract forms or lines can be used with the sole aim of contributing to a composition which depicts a representational scene. In either case we could say in a sense "objectively" that these paintings are representational or that they are abstract. I invite the viewer of the work to participate as a critical contributor to this dialogue and to question the distinction between abstract and representational art.
