Welcome

Welcome to Artflung™, where great art by new and emerging artists is made available to all. We hope you find the exhibitions stimulating, provocative and engaging.

The gallery is not for profit, contains no advertising and does not charge artists any commission. It is a privilege for us to exhibit the works and we hope you find them as rewarding as we do.

Finding your way around

Finding your way around the Artflung gallery is easy. There are exhibitions in different rooms on different floors. Open the Gallery Guide by clicking on the icon at the top-right of the page.

The Gallery Guide will allow you to see what is being exhibited and where. There are also links to other key areas of the gallery - such as a link back to here, the Information Centre.

As you move around the gallery the menu at the top of the page will show you links that are relevant to your location - for example, to open the exhibition's catalogue or a link to the artist's profile.

Thank you for visiting Artflung, we hope you enjoy the gallery.

About

Artflung was created by Tim Pilkington and Gavin McIntosh. The purpose of the gallery is to provide an entirely non-commercial space where works by new and emerging artists can be exhibited to as wide an audience as possible.

We do not have the overheads associated with a physical gallery and this makes it possible for us to exist without any pressure to focus on 'commercially viable' work. Also, because the gallery is virtual we can extend the space as required to accommodate new exhibitions.

We are delighted if artists manage to sell their works as a result of contacts made through Artflung, but our primary aim is to bring together art, artists and the wider public. Artflung provides a way for our visitors to contact artists but we are not involved in any subsequent transactions. No exhibition fees or commission are charged by Artflung to any party.

Get Involved

Submitting Works

Artflung is about great art and we are always looking for new works to exhibit.

We all have our own artistic tastes but the gallery is about surprises and discovery, so there is no preconceived notion of an Artflung type.

If you are interested in exhibiting with us please complete the form here. We will consider submissions of all visual arts: photography, painting, film, sculputure - in fact, anything we can display on the website. Selection is based on review by a broad range of artists, so that the influence of any particular aesthetic or conceptual preferences are minimised and Artflung's content remains fresh.

Artflung is about art and the artist, not profit. However, to avoid any confusion, misunderstanding or disappointment please read our Terms and Conditions prior to submission.

Feedback

We want Artflung to be an extraordinary place and welcome all suggestions for ways in which the gallery can be improved. Please use the form here to let us know what you think we're getting right and what could be better.

New exhibition from Alfred Balazs

In this exciting exhibition, combining abstract planes of vivid colour with half recognisable forms, Balazs' paintings invite the us to reflect on universal metaphysical concepts.

Artflung now works without Flash

10-Jul-2010

We have updated the Artflung website to use HTML5.

At Artflung we are really committed to keeping everything as open as possible and this includes the technology we use. We have been extremely busy re-writing the site to make greater use of open web standards, which make the site accessible to more platforms.

The use of Flash players is particularly contentious at the moment, because the iPhone and iPad do not support them, while they do support HTML5 video. HTML5 is used increasingly on major web sites, so following this trend we have upgraded the Artflung web site to use HTML5 video as the default.

If your preferred browser does not support HTML5, don't worry, you'll be presented with an option to switch to Flash or QuickTime players. We have also re-written the picture browser so we don't rely on a Flash viewer for that either.

Artflung and Saatchi

22-Apr-2010

We are increasing our exposure, and yours.

We are delighted to announce that Artflung is now registered with Saatchi Online, the world's largest online art site. This should significantly increase our exposure and, more importantly, that of our artists.

New exhibitions from Jozsef Stichleutner

21-Jan-2010

Jozsef presents two exhibitions at the Artflung gallery.

The first exhibition is of drawings from the artist's memory and imagination, which can be found here.

The second shows a diverse set of abstract oil paintings based on the artist's emotional response to his experiences, see them here.

Arflung gets a new-look Gallery Guide.

12-Jan-2010

We've done some work on the Artflung site and replaced the floorplan style navigation with a Gallery Guide.

The Gallery Guide still shows the floors and rooms containing the exhibitions but the layout is clearer and each exhibition has a summary description to help you find the art you want to see. Not that you shouldn't see it all, of course.

There's also an option to view all of the exhibitions in a single list, to quickly navigate to an exhbition, which can be ordered by exhibition title, artist or date.

See the Finding your way around section on the Welcome page for details.

14-Dec-2009

Xiang has three exhbitions in the Artflung gallery, including our first video installation.

In Little Red Riding Hood, Xiang Zeng draws on the traditional children's story for her inspiration.

The video installation of Wick Vic's Final Robbery can be found here.

And Xiang is also exhibiting a collection of other works here.

New exhibition: Life in the City by Izaskun Gamen

08-Jun-2009

Combining drawing, photography and digital art, Izaskun Gamen's exhibition is a vibrant and powerful look at city life.

The exhibition contrasts the aesthetic and the idea, reflecting on the chaotic life in a great city; multiculturalism; the loneliness of human beings; the social contrast and the indifference to other people's misfortunes.

The exhibition can be found here.

New exhibition: Recent Abstracts by Fiona Starr

30-Mar-2009

Fiona Starr's collection of abstract paintings are based on a psychological response to landscape, colour and emotions.

Says Fiona, "My sense of colour is developed from fleeting memories of landscape, my surroundings and the emotions that colours create within me."

The exhibition can be found here.
